The aim of the present study was to determine the role of the achievement motivation and test anxiety in predicting students' self-handicapping and procrastination. The method was descriptive-correlational, and the statistical population included all young students of the University of Applied Sciences and Technology of East Tehran; who were studying in one of the faculties of this university in the academic year of 2017-2018. The Cochran's sample size estimation formula was used to determine the sample size, which were 340 people. The sampling was done on a basis of a random multi-step way. Edward E. Jon's self-efficacy scale, Herman's motivated progress, Solomon's and Rathblum's procrastination, and Sarason's test anxiety were used in the study in order to collect the data. The SPSS 24 and Pearson correlation and canonical correlation methods were used to analyze the data. The findings showed that predicting the variable of procrastination based on test anxiety variables and achievement motivation is significant (p .

Purpose: in the present study, the relationship between cognitive emotion regulation and academic buoyancy with the role of mediating self-disability in students has been studied. Methodology: The present study was descriptive-correlational. The research population included all female secondary school students in Sabzevar City. 323 students were randomly selected as the sample in a multistage cluster sampling method. They completed Jones and Rodwellt Self-Handicapping Scale (1982), Garnfesky, Kareev and Spinhaun (2001) Emotional Cognitive Regulation Questionnaire and Dehghanizadeh and حسینchary (2012) Academic Buoyancy Questionnaire. Findings: The results of the research indicated that the model of the research had excellent fitting and self-handicapping has a mediating role in the relationship between emotional cognitive regulation and students’ academic buoyancy. Also, 79% of the variations in academic buoyancy are explained through the strategies of positive and negative cognitive emotion regulation and academic self-handicapping and 74% of the variations in academic self-handicapping are explained through the strategies of positive and negative emotion cognitive regulation. Discussion: As a result, it should be acknowledged that students who grow up to develop strong emotions could handle social barriers and pressure well, and manage behaviors that can mitigate their academic achievement. Therefore, the emotional stress of students in dealing with stressful situations affects self-handicapping and, consequently, their academic buoyancy.

Purpose: This research was conducted with the aim of presenting a model of self-handicapping based on time perspective and intelligence beliefs mediated by academic self-efficacy in students. Methodology: Present study was cross-sectional from type of correlation. The research population was all secondary high school students of Tehran city in 2019-20 academic years. The sample size was considered 400 people who were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling method. The research tools were the revised self-handicapping scale (Jones & Rhodewalt, 1982), time perspective questionnaire (Zimbardo & Boyd, 1992), intelligence beliefs scale (Abd-El-Fattah & Yates, 2006) and academic self-efficacy scale (Jinks & Morgan, 1999). Data were analyzed by structural equation modeling method in SPSS-25 and Amos-23 software. Findings: The findings showed that the model of self-handicapping based on time perspective and intelligence beliefs mediated by academic self-efficacy in students had a good fit. Also, time perspective and intelligence beliefs had a direct and positive effect on academic self-efficacy and time perspective, intelligence beliefs and academic self-efficacy had a direct and negative effect on self-handicapping. In addition, time perspective and intelligence beliefs with mediated by academic self-efficacy had an indirect and negative effect on self-handicapping (P<0.05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, planning is necessary to reduce students’ self-disability which for this purpose, school counselors and psychologists can improve their time perspective, intelligence beliefs and academic self-efficacy through workshops

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Sandplay Therapy in reducing self-handicapping behaviors and improving the quality of life in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 30 children diagnosed with ASD, who were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n = 15) receiving Sandplay Therapy or the control group (n = 15) receiving no intervention. The intervention consisted of eight 90-minute sessions conducted over eight weeks. Self-handicapping behaviors were measured using the Self-Handicapping Scale (SHS), and quality of life was assessed using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL), both of which demonstrated established validity and reliability. Assessments were conducted at pre-test, post-test, and five-month follow-up. Data were analyzed using repeated-measures ANOVA, with post-hoc comparisons conducted using the Bonferroni test. The results indicated a significant reduction in self-handicapping behaviors in the experimental group from pre-test (M = 42.85, SD = 4.31) to post-test (M = 31.76, SD = 3.76) and further at follow-up (M = 29.45, SD = 3.45), while no significant changes were observed in the control group. Similarly, quality of life improved significantly in the experimental group, with scores increasing from pre-test (M = 52.12, SD = 5.12) to post-test (M = 63.45, SD = 4.78) and follow-up (M = 67.32, SD = 4.50), whereas the control group remained stable. ANOVA results confirmed significant main effects of time and group, as well as a significant interaction effect (p < 0.05). Bonferroni post-hoc comparisons indicated that improvements were sustained at follow-up. Sandplay Therapy is an effective intervention for reducing self-handicapping behaviors and enhancing the quality of life in children with ASD, with sustained benefits observed at follow-up. These findings highlight the potential of nonverbal, expressive therapies in supporting emotional regulation and adaptive functioning in children with ASD.
